Le Loop: Charity Event Platform with Bespoke Membership Functionality

The Client

Le Loop offers cycling enthusiasts the extraordinary opportunity to ride the official route of the Tour de France –  one week before the professionals. From hotels and medics to mechanics and more, the Le Loop team takes care of every detail, creating a seamless and unforgettable experience for their riders. More impressively, it’s all in aid of charity, raising significant funds for the William Wates Memorial Trust.

Operating in the niche space of complex sporting logistics for a charity event, Le Loop runs a highly coordinated operation. Their riders rely on clear, accurate, and timely information every step of the way.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Le Loop since 2013, when their previous web development company closed. What started as a small support and hosting arrangement has grown into a trusted, long-term partnership spanning more than a decade. Over the years, we’ve helped streamline their operations, automate admin processes, and celebrated plenty of milestones along the way – including a memorable 10-year “Loop-iversary” dinner in Bristol.

The Challenge

Le Loop approached us looking for a major website upgrade. Their goals were clear:

  • A faster, more responsive website that performs smoothly across all devices.
  • A significantly improved Rider Zone with tailored content based on each user’s specific ride.
  • The ability to independently manage their website content – without needing to call in developers for every update.

Sarah and Kate from the Le Loop team wanted a platform that empowered them to support their riders effectively and efficiently while staying hands-on with their own website management.

How We Helped

We delivered a brand-new site built in WordPress, using a custom membership system to tailor the user experience for each rider. The site dynamically adapts content based on the user’s journey –  access to relevant resources like medical forms, shop features, and prep materials only when they’re needed. This approach avoids overwhelming riders with too much information too soon, improving both speed and usability.

To ensure Sarah and Kate could manage the site themselves, we implemented WordPress short codes – allowing them to control content visibility and structure without needing to touch any code. This gave them full control over what information is seen by whom and when, depending on membership level, actions taken, or ride category.

In just 8 weeks, we delivered a faster, smarter, and more user-friendly website—well-suited to Le Loop’s operational needs and the expectations of their riders.

“We have a really great website which people can use in the way they want to, and we’re able to manage most of it ourselves. And it definitely doesn’t hurt that it doesn’t cost too much!”
