The Client

Sol Environment is a dynamic sustainability consultancy based in the UK, known for delivering technically robust, forward-thinking environmental advice. Their multidisciplinary team works across planning, energy, carbon management, and environmental permitting – helping organisations transition towards more sustainable practices.

Proudly independent and people-centred, Sol’s culture is collaborative, flexible, and deeply rooted in environmental responsibility. They work exclusively with clients committed to positive environmental outcomes, avoiding fossil-fuel projects and focusing instead on innovative technologies that transform waste into biofuels and other low-carbon solutions.

The Challenge

As Sol Environment continued to grow, their existing website no longer reflected who they were as a business. They wanted a new site that showcased the breadth of their expertise, communicated their progressive approach to sustainability, and captured the human, approachable personality of their team. The challenge was to strike the right balance between professionalism and personality – creating something modern and technically sound, but also warm, collaborative, and authentic.

Sol also needed the new site to serve as a credible digital home for future clients, partners, and recruits without relying on it as a lead-generation tool. This meant designing a user experience that prioritised clarity, storytelling, and trust over aggressive conversion tactics. It needed to present complex technical information in an accessible way while showcasing the innovative, people-driven nature of their work across multiple sectors.

How We Helped

We worked closely with the Sol Environment team to design and develop a website that truly embodied their values; professional yet personable, scientific yet human. From the ground up, we built a clean, intuitive site structure that highlights their core services, sector expertise, and growing portfolio of projects. Using carefully selected imagery we brought their sustainability story to life and positioned their team at the centre of the narrative.

Our UX approach focused on ease of navigation and clear content pathways, ensuring visitors could quickly understand Sol’s specialisms and the impact of their work. Each page was designed to reinforce their three pillars: sustainability, people, and cutting-edge technology, with subtle design cues that convey energy and innovation without overcomplication.

In keeping with Sol’s mission, we also applied our low-carbon web design principles, ensuring the new site is lightweight, fast, and energy-efficient, reducing digital emissions while improving performance and search visibility. 

Their homepage achieves a carbon rating of B and is cleaner than 68% of all web pages globally – not bad! 

The finished product is a modern, sustainable website that not only communicates who Sol Environment are today, but also supports their evolution as a trusted leader in environmental consultancy.
